Canton, Texas now is home of the World Famous First Monday Trade Days. It began in the 1850's as the days the circuit judge would stop in Canton each month to conduct court proceedings and to conduct business. People would come to town to see the proceedings and began bringing stray horses from the open range of Van Zandt County to auction off and trade. Soon people were bringing excess crops, such as fresh produce, grain etc. to sell and trade.

Now First Monday Trade Days is purported to be the largest and oldest continually operated flea market in the United States. Beginning on the downtown square it now has grown to cover 100 acres and provides places for 7,000 vendors and as many as 300,000 visitors.

So if you want to have some fun and locate near anything your heart desires. Come on over to Canton, Texas and the First Monday Trade Days. The market is actually held on the Thursday through Sunday proceeding the first Monday of each month.
